Professional Image (Dress Code)
All Future Professionals must adhere to the following professional dress code while in attendance:
General Requirements
- Clothing and shoes must be clean, professional, clean, professional, clean, and appropriately fitted.
- Hair should be styled prior to arriving at school.
- Cosmetics should be applied prior to arriving at school.
- A school name tag is issued by the school upon enrollment and must be worn at all times while in attendance.
Acceptable Attire
- Colored shoes are acceptable, but only from the ankles down.
- Black jeans are permitted. Any rips or tears must fall below the knees.
- Shorts, skirts, and dresses must extend below the fingertips when standing.
- Black tights or legging must be worn with skirts or dresses that fall below the fingertips when standing.
- Sleeveless tops must have straps at least three fingers wide.
- Sheer or lace clothing is permitted only if minimal and still compliant with dress code standards.
- Stylish hats, scarves, and head wraps are permitted in black or white only.
- Paul Mitchell apparel is permitted in black and white only.
Prohibited Attire
- Flip-flops, shower slides, foot thongs, Crocs, Uggs, beach sandals, house slippers, or excessively casual footwear intended for leisure, beach, or home use.
- Sweatpants, spandex, or biking-style shorts.
- Spaghetti straps, tube tops, low-cut tops, crop tops, midriff-baring shirts, or open-back tops below the bra. Torso must be covered at all times (NV Stateboard of Cosmetology Requirement NAC 664A.770).
- Sunglasses, headphones, headgear, and/or earphones in the classroom or clinic classroom.
- Any prints or graphics on shirts or pants other than approved Paul Mitchell apparel.
- Graphic designs or logos on shirts must be minimal. The total graphic size may not exceed the size of the Future Professional's hand.
- Clothing or accessories displaying offensive, inappropriate, religious, or political language, symbols, or imagery are not permitted.
Compliance
Gray-colored clothing will be permitted through June 30, 2026. After this date, gray clothing will no longer be allowed. Professionals who fail to comply with the updated dress code may be coached and may receive an advisory.
Future Professionals who fail to comply with the Future Professional dress code may be coached and may receive an advisory.
